Acoustic ... ANGRY Acoustic!!!

Acoustic ... ANGRY Acoustic!!! - this is what I was called earlier this week - I can live with that, and it was taken as a compliment thank you Gutterpunk Photos.
After the last gig Iwas on a bit of a buzz, so decided I needed to write a new song immediately.

After doing everything I.E. Drums, Bass, Electric & Acoustic guitars , vocals, mixing etc on the last load of demos / songs,  I decided I wanted this one stripped back to just acoustic guitar and vocal. I'm finding it fairly easy to write lyrics at them moment as our government are giving me (and everyone else) plenty of fuel to be angry about - one brief recording session later and I have an acoustic song which  I fully intend to play at the next gig which is going to be a cracker - The Birds Nest in Deptford as support to the wonderul Decadent Few, and two new bands to me, Mindframe and Bucha Effect.

As for the song - Inspired by a conversation at the last gig when someone said to me that they agreed with what was going on and it wouldn't affect them as they were working part time and the government won';t touch them. I laughed and told them not to be so naieve and lo and behold four weeks later they govt are going to sanction part time workers, I just told him to go home and watch his TV and go back to sleep. And that is what this one is called.

Please feel free to download this or any other track from the soundcloud page. If you use this in a radio show or podcast - please credit me and and let me know - Thanks Russ Crimewave.

Go Back To Sleep

No need for a false flag operation
Dont need one on a sleeping nation
They want to keep us dumb and ignorant
Try to manufacture our consent

Do exactly what the governments say
Go back to sleep everything is ok
No facts required, No actual proof
Lies always travel, Faster than truth

They wanna chip us to make us dumb
Make us subserviant, Everyone
Bent to their will, Diminish and divide
Each identical, Just as advertised

No evidence needed in the state of denial
We all stand accused, All on trial
Told what to do, told what to say
Told who to vote for, Who to obey

First Gig - Review

So the first gig is out of the way - always a nightmare but even more so when you are not used to doing everything on your own. Everything was going smoothly, too smoothly, I was going up on the train to Sheerness with a few mates then I get that call, you know the one, train cancelled, wrong type of wind or some such crap. Turned out there was a landslide and all the trains were cancelled and there was a bus service that was going to make the jorney nearly three hours - really? its three o clock and I have to be there between six and seven and there is no way I am going to make it. Luckily I get a call from Kay from Decadent Few, do I want a lift to Sheerness, yeah I do, that would be lovely, so thats what I did - got a lift.
Packed everything in one bag and off we went to Sheerness.

So how did the gig go??
Well, I got there with a bit of time to spare so had a chat with a few people while Swampstomper & The Commited were sound checking and then as time was getting on, it was a quick line check for me and on I go. Nervous as hell, quick bit of banter then into the first tune. Fifteen minutes and five tunes later its all over and I'm buzzing from the fantastic response I got despite being out of tune for three of the five and messing up a fair few lyrics, then amazingly got asked back for an encore, so after a quick tune up I did one more.

Set List:
1. You're A Terrorist
2. Still Called Scum
3. R.I.P (Riot In Progress)
4. Race To The Bottom
5. Generation iDiot
6. Question Authority (encore)

Gutterpunk  took some fantastic photos for GIGglepics which can be found along with a review of the rest of the gig  here.
